Introducing "Impact Light"
Dec. 7, 2012, 3:22 p.m.
A newly-introduced technology allows BCGP's rigid inflatable hulls to lose up to 30% of their total weight, meaning improved range on less horsepower, with the same structural stability. How is this done? Watch the video below, taken in BCGP's booth at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans December 5th.

BCGP receives top safety award, donates $10K to local cause
Aug. 15, 2012, 8:23 a.m.
Brunswick Commercial and Government Products was recognized by its parent company, Brunswick Corporation, for its outstanding safety record. In honor of the award, Brunswick committed to making a $10,000 donation to a local charity chosen by BCGP employees.
BCGP’s Edgewater, Fla., facility was one of three Brunswick plants that recently received the prestigious Chairman’s Safety Award for outstanding safety performance. The employees at the Edgewater plant have had a recordable incident rate of zero for the past four years, and have worked almost a million hours without a lost time incident. The award recipients were selected by Brunswick’s senior management from scores of manufacturing facilities. BCGP employees chose to donate the $10,000 grant to Cudas UnHooked, a local organization that assists at-risk high school students.
The award was presented to employees of the BCGP facility by Dustan E. McCoy, Brunswick’s chairman and chief executive officer, during a formal ceremony on Aug. 14. Those in attendance included Brunswick executives, as well as Shawn Lane, the CEO of Cudas UnHooked.
“Our daily efforts to maintain a safe workplace are truly paying off. To go four years without a safety incident is an extraordinary accomplishment,” said Jennifer Butera, BCGP’s general manager. “Also, I think I can speak on behalf of our employees when I say we are thrilled to be given the chance to support an organization, which makes such a direct impact on the local community.”
BCGP and MetalCraft Marine Partner to Build USCG High Speed Patrol Boat
June 19, 2012, 9:34 a.m.
MetalCraft Marine US Inc (MCM) and partner Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP) have been awarded a contract for the design and production of the new generation Long Range Interceptor II (LRI II) for the United States Coast Guard. The boats will be an integral part of the National Security Cutter’s Over the Horizon Program. The five year contract is valued at $10,189,166.00.
The LRI II is powered by twin Cummins Tier III 6.7L diesel engines and Ultra 305 water jets with electronic joystick controls. The engines are JP-5 or alternative Bio-Fuel optional and have a 5 minute run dry feature. All systems are designed for equatorial and arctic conditions, and each patrol boat has a fully integrated standard Coast Guard Furuno electronics package.
The high speed LRI II patrol boat has a range of 236 nautical miles on plane and can reach 42 knots. The boats have the ability to operate up to Sea State 5. It can carry 15 crew or passengers in ergonomic suspension seating from Shoxs and Bostrom. The cabin can be partially or fully enclosed and has 360 degree and overhead visibility for navigation, shipboard recovery and launching manoeuvres. The hull structure is designed to ABS High Speed Naval Craft standards, and all systems are designed to ABYC and CFR 46 standards.

BCGP Expands Distribution to 'Australasia'
March 22, 2012, 3:41 p.m.
Brunswick Commercial and Government Products (BCGP) has linked with Mercury Marine Australia to service government and commercial agencies across Australasia and the Pacific region.
Whether the mission is combat, special operations, security, law enforcement or fire/rescue, cutting corners is simply not an option. That’s why BCGP builds superior quality, durable boats purposely designed to meet the specific objectives of the job, and then backs its boats with unmatched customer service and support.
“We operate in an extremely competitive market, but this is all we do and we’ve been doing it since the 1960s so I’m very confident there are many agencies in this part of the world that we can help,” said Jennifer Butera, general manager of BCGP, who flew into Australia to finalise the agreement with Mercury.
Under the new agreement, Mercury Marine Australia will have access to the full line of BCGP models ranging in size from 5 to 15 meters, which includes Boston Whaler Commercial fiberglass boats, Impact rigid inflatable boats, and Sentry aluminum patrol boats.
Along with the highly skilled team that builds the boats, BCGP also employs experienced law enforcement, fire/rescue, commercial and military personnel to help design them.
“Without that kind of input, it’d be like developing a car without having a clue how to drive,” Jennifer said.

32' Sentry Aluminum Model Debuts at Workboat Show
Dec. 5, 2011, 1:36 p.m.
The inaugural model of our new Sentry aluminum patrol boat line, the 32 Sentry, debuted at the International Workboat Show in New Orleans, Nov. 30-Dec. 2. Demos on the 32-foot Sentry will be available to agencies beginning in January 2012.
The Sentry line is part of a strategic partnership between BCGP and MetalCraft Marine, Inc. Check out more coverage from Workboat Magazine here: http://www.workboat.com/Blogs/On-the-Waterfront/Patrol-boat-impresses/
Five Sentry models comprise BCGP’s aluminum patrol boat line serving navies, coast guards and law enforcement agencies around the world. The Sentry product line ranges in size from 28 to 45 feet in length, and can be outfitted with a number of propulsion options.
The main objectives for the design team were threefold: build the wheelhouse to meet ABS standards, reduce the number of welds for maximum strength, and keep the boat lightweight. The cabin features large overhead windows and standing headroom with 7 foot, 3 inches of clearance. The lower cuddy cabin has two berths and room for an optional small galley or full head, and boasts 6 feet, 2 inches of headroom.
Other notable design features include a transparent aft sliding cabin door and forecabin door. The aft door permits complete views of the transom corners from the helm location for visibility when backing down. The boat features plenty of storage, with aft cabin lockers that can house a small refrigerator and microwave on the port side, and gun storage and a clothes locker to the starboard side. The 32-foot Sentry model is equipped with shock mitigating seating to greatly enhance crew comfort on long or rough details.
The 32-foot Sentry shown at the Workboat show will be powered by twin Mercury 300 HP outboard engines. Sentry models 32 feet and larger can be outfitted with triple outboards or diesel waterjet engines.
The Sentry line is part of a strategic partnership between BCGP and MetalCraft Marine, Inc. Check out more coverage from Workboat Magazine here: http://www.workboat.com/Blogs/On-the-Waterfront/Patrol-boat-impresses/
Boston Whaler fights crime on the Ohio River
Nov. 11, 2011, 9:41 a.m.
Residents and business along the Ohio River in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, will soon see a new Boston Whaler 25’ Guardian on patrol. $3.4 billion worth of goods is transported through the county every year along the river, but a recent risk assessment exercise pointed out that law enforcement was not equipped to handle a crisis on the waterway. Crime-related or emergency incidents were handled by non-local response teams, which increased response times.
As a result, a new local task force was created to provide seamless law enforcement and emergency coverage along the river from the Ohio line to the Montgomery Lock and Dam. The task force received a $140,000 grant from FEMA and the State Department of Economic and Community Development to purchase a Boston Whaler 25’ Guardian patrol boat from Brunswick Commercial and Government Products.
Detective James DeGori, who heads up the task force, explained why he chose the Whaler for the task. “We wanted a durable boat because we are going to patrol around-the-clock during the summertime. We’ve had our eyes on the Boston Whaler for a while. They’re unsinkable, and they last practically forever.”
The 25’ Guardian is equipped for both law enforcement and rescue operations. The boat is powered by dual Mercury 150 Verado outboard engines, which are protected with an aluminum crash rail. A dive door on the port side aids rescue efforts, and heavy-duty rubbing strakes protect the hull from damage while coming alongside docks or other boats. An LED blue strobe light with siren is mounted on the T-top. A leaning post with a locking gun cabinet ensures firearms are secured safely. In the event of a fire, a small fire pump is mounted in the cockpit, with a monitor located at the bow.
The task force will have daytime and nighttime patrols to provide law enforcement coverage on the water for the local chemical plants, oil and chemical storage tanks and to assist with general waterway improvements and awareness. They will also patrol during large events such as the Beaver River Regatta and annual Fourth of July celebrations.
About the Beaver Valley River Response Task Force
The Beaver Valley River Response Task Force is a new law enforcement team which has been formed to provide law enforcement coverage on the Ohio River from the Ohio line to the Montgomery Lock and Dam. The Beaver Valley River Response Task Force has received a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Department of Economic and Community Development to obtain a patrol boat and start the project. The goal of the Beaver Valley River Response Task Force is to discourage crime on the waterways and to make the waterways safer for the local residents and businesses.

BCGP Receives Brunswick Chairman's Safety Award
May 25, 2011, 8:09 a.m.
Brunswick Commercial and Government Products recently received the Brunswick Chairman's Safety Award. The purpose of the program is to encourage, recognize and reward employees and facilities that have achieved outstanding safety and health performance through promoting and practicing safety awareness, ultimately minimizing workplace incidents and injuries. All Brunswick manufacturing and distribution facilities worldwide are eligible for such recognition.
For 2010, three facilities received the Chairman’s Safety Award; the company’s highest, while 21 additional facilities were recognized with Distinguished Awards for their 2010 safety performance. In all, 36 facilities were cited by Brunswick for achieving no lost-time incidents during 2010.
The Chairman’s Safety Award is selected and presented by Brunswick senior management to the most outstanding performers. The Distinguished Safety Award is achieved by meeting specific safety performance results, which include incident rates and other Brunswick criteria.
New Model - Boston Whaler 350 Challenger
May 25, 2011, 8:07 a.m.
Check out our latest and greatest new model, a 35' walkaround cabin boat that was delivered to the state of Ohio. A 350 Challenger was delivered to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department in Ohio, where it will be used to patrol the border between the U.S. and Canada on Lake Erie. The Sheriff’s Department is part of a 58-agency task force known as the Northern Border Initiative (NBI). This task force is funded through federal security grant funds administered by the Ohio Department of Public Safety, Division of Homeland Security.
The 350 Challenger is a new Boston Whaler model manufactured by BCGP for military, law enforcement, port security, search and rescue (SAR), and workboat operations. The Boston Whaler brand is popular in commercial and military applications because of its durability and “unsinkable” construction. The NBI fleet already has several other Boston Whalers in service.
In addition to its rescue and law enforcement duties, NBI is tasked with scanning watercraft coming across the border for potential radiological or nuclear threats. To help the agency address this requirement, BCGP custom-installed an optional Thermo Scientific RadSPEC unit
